The event is underway to introduce various aspects of the dynamic science and taking advantage of scientific researches for removing environmental challenges.
The congress has brought together researchers and scientists from various branches of biology to exchange ideas and thoughts to find solutions to environmental problems.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Head of Iranian Biology Society Mohammad Nabyouni said that the congress will provide a suitable opportunity for sharing research findings and applied achievements.
Holding such congresses will help study regional problems, especially in the field of biology, he said.
Approving and signing the country’s comprehensive biological document by the Iranian Biology Society, examining problems of textbooks and holding different scientific workshops and panels are among various sections of the congress, he said.
Meanwhile, the executive secretary of the congress said that of the total 1,150 articles submitted to the secretariat of the congress, 87 have been selected for presentation during the event and 749 will be presented in the form of posters.
Saleh Shahbivand further noted that holding a specialized workshop dealing with the situation facing Orumieh Lake is on the congress’ agenda.
The 20th National and the Eighth International Congress on Biology will continue until Saturday in University of Maragheh.
