Petit who was touring the 32nd Tehran Book Fair, made the remarks in a meeting with Mohsen Javadi, the director of the international book fair.
She said that her country is resolved to pave the way for cultural exchanges with Iran.
In Belgium, the people are familiar with the Iranian culture through books, movies and music and are very eager to get more familiar with Iranian culture and traditions, the ambassador said.
The 32nd Tehran International Book Fair started on April 24 and will run until May 4.
3,200 Iranian and 800 foreign publishers are taking part in the event.
