Assistant FM: Desert tourism economy booming

Seyyed Rasoul Mousavi on Wednesday at the First International Tourism Conference of Lut Desert at Birjand University added, 'Desert tourism is one of the important branches of nature tourism, which has been able to allocate special feature for itself in ecotourism.'

The official underlined that this is an important indicator that attracts many tourists around the world from the Mongolian desert to the Nevada desert and various centers.

'What is under attentions today in ecotourism and its main branch of desert tourism is what takes humans to desert, and this is a philosophy within the desert tourism,' Mousavi stated.

Regarding the desert tourism chain, he said, 'Desert tourism makes the environment more attractive, as well as environmental protection.'

He emphasized that paying attention to traditional goods, handicrafts and attention to a kind of indigenous industry is one of the main issues of the economy of the desert, which means that hotel services find their special features, and modern hotels have a combination of tradition and modernism.

He reminded that the global registration of Lut desert was not just a phenomenon. If it were to be considered, there would be a lot of economic effects that could affect the lives of each villager.

Assistant FM highlighted that desert tourism will change the lives of settlers outside of the cities in the desret. Attention to tourism and tourism boosts the unknown sectors of a country's economy.

The first international conference on tourism of the Lut desert was opened on Wednesday at the University of Birjand with the presence of domestic and foreign guests and will continue until tomorrow.

The Lut desert was registered as the first natural treasure of Iran with the efforts of Iranian authorities in 2016 at the 40th UNESCO World Heritage Summit.

The World Heritage Site of Lut Desert with an area of about 175,000 square kilometers is spread among three provinces of South Khorasan, Sistan and Baluchestan and Kerman. The site, in 2005 with 70.7 degrees Celsius, recorded the highest hot spot on earth.
