Archeologists discover Bronze era pottery in western Iran

The Public Relations Office of the Research Institute of Cultural Heritage and Tourism (RICHT) quoted Nassimeh Yussefvand, head of the probing team as saying on Tuesday that the major pottery discovered are polished and burnished with a lot of elegance.

She pointed to the discovery of painted pottery of the Middle Bronze Age with geometric designs, which are comparable with the Gowdin Tappeh.

According to the archaeologist, the pottery which represent the Bronze Age in the area have been made of the beige, red and brown materials which is a mixture of tiny minerals.

Most of the decorations of the pottery are in the form of patterned lines in brown and red colors and in curvy, straight and embossed circular shapes on the container.

The height of the hill used to be 20 meters in recent years, but due to the unauthorized use of the soil of the hill for the reconstruction purposes and in agricultural fields, gradually the height of the hill has reduced as such that at present it has a height of about 3 meters, he added.

She went on to say that under the layers, there are the coherent and homogeneous deposits from the Middle Bronze Age up to the Historic (Parthian) era.
