The Public Relations Office of the Research Institute of Cultural Heritage and Tourism (RICHT) quoted Morteza Rezvanfar, a faculty member of the RICHT who had paid a visit to the capital of the Autonomous North Ossetia Republic, Vladikavkaz, as saying on Wednesday that the purpose of the visit was to present an article to the conference on the common history of Iran-North Caucasus elations and make a survey of the common heritage of Iran and Ossetia.
According to him, the Ossetia region is important for the Iranians from several points of view; first it is the origin of the Aryan tribes and is a region where groups of the Aryan tribes moved towards the Iranian plateau over three thousand years ago.
As for the second reason for the importance of the region, he referred to the presence of common cultural heritage in the history of several thousand years in that region and finally the reverse migration of a large number of Iranian people, especially the Azaris and the Gilanis in the Qajar era to that region and establishment of economic and cultural foundations that are witnessed.
He reiterated that presence of areas named Iran or Iranian names, mosques and castles in the name of Iranian kings and tribes, tombs of the Iranian Sufis and scholars, a large number of Persian manuscripts on the buildings and graves, as well as countless numbers of Persian documents is the manifestation of the depth and expansion of the ancient relations between Iran and the Caucasus.
Ponting out that the article is the result of several years of research works, Rezvanfar said in this research efforts have been made to identify the most important common heritage in the North and South Ossetia, especially the buildings and Persian manuscripts, and prepare reconnaissance certificate for them.
Referring to the release of the results of the research work, with emphasis on the cities of Vladikavkaz, Darband and Makhachkala, he reiterated that with regard to the protection of the monuments by the people in the hard period of Soyuz, it is hoped that with the publication of the research work grounds would be further prepared for the talks and cultural communications in that region.
Rezvanfar said many people in the Caucasus are named Elberouz (Alborz), adding that according to Dr. Elberouz who is a professor of ancient languages and lecturer of the Persian language in the Vladikavkaz University, the name Alborz in Persian language means robust and lofty and the Aryan ancestors while migrating towards the Iranian plateau used the name for the Alborz mountains.
