A fruitful year for Iran-Pakistan cultural ties

Iran and Pakistan have been enjoying strong brotherly relations since the creation of Pakistan way back in 1947. Since then the two countries have always been supporting each other on world issues.

On March 2, 2017, Norouz festival was celebrated in Pakistani city of Rawlapindi with the cooperation of Iranian Cultural Center (Khana-e-Farhang).

On March 24, Norouz festival was also celebrated in Pakistani city of Quetta with the cooperation of Iranian Cultural Center (Khana-e-Farhang).

And on April 3, Iranian food festival was held in Karachi city by the Iranian Consulate.

On April 22, Iranology center was opened at South Asia University in the city of Lahore with the cooperation of Iranian Consulate.

On 23rd of April, an international book festival was held in Islamabad in which Iranian books were also displayed.

On May 6, Persian language course was started at Iranian Cultural Center (Khana-e-Farhang) in Rawalpindi.

On 6th of May an international food festival was held in Islamabad in which Iranian Cultural Consulate actively participated.

On 11th of May with the efforts of Iranian Cultural Consulate in Islamabad, a Persian language course was started at Quaid-e-Azam University.

On 16th of May, Iranian Cultural Center (Khana-e-Farhang) in Rawalpindi organized a seminar on Persian language and Iran-Pakistan friendship. On the same day another seminar was organized in Lahore on Ferdowsi.

On 24th of May 'Saadi Corner' opened at Pakistan’s Peshawar University with the efforts of Khana-e-Farhang in the city.

On 26th May, Iranian Cultural Center (Khana-e-Farhang) in Quetta organized a seminar on Imam Khomeini and Iqbal Lahori. A large number of religious scholars from different school of thoughts attended the event.

On 28th of May, Iranian Cultural Center (Khana-e-Farhang) in Lahore held a conference on the personality of Imam Khomeini.

On June 2nd Persian language course kicked off at Iranian Cultural Consulate in Islamabad.

On 5th of June, Iranian Cultural Center (Khana-e-Farhang) in Peshawar held a conference on the personality of Imam Khomeini.

On 6th June, Iranian Cultural Center (Khana-e-Farhang) in Lahore also held a conference to pay homage to Imam Khomeini.

On 9th of June two Pakistani artists with the help of Iranian Cultural Consulate in Islamabad traveled to Mashhad to participate in Quran recitation international festival.

On 11th of June, Iranian Cultural Center (Khana-e-Farhang) in Lahore held Quran competition for women.

On 19th of June, Iranian Cultural Center (Khana-e-Farhang) in Lahore also held Quran competition for men.

On 22nd of June seminars were held in connection with international day of Al-Quds day in Karachi, Peshawar and Islamabad.

On 23rd of June, Iranian Cultural Consulate in Islamabad organized a seminar on peace and diplomacy.

On August 4, special seminars were held at Iranian cultural centers in Rawalpindi, Lahore and Karachi on the life of Imam Reza

On 18th of August, Iranian Cultural Center (Khana-e-Farhang) in Rawalpindi held a Quran competition.

On 26th of August, Pakistan’s State Minister for Information, Broadcasting, National History and Literary Heritage Marriyum Aurangzeb visited Centre for Research on Persian Language in Pakistan.

On 10th of September, Khana-e-Farhang in Lahore held a seminar in connection with the event of Ghadir Khumm.

On 19th of September, Khana-e-Farhang in Rawalpindi organized conference on Persian literature.

On 11th of October, new Persian language course was started at Iranian Cultural Center (Khana-e-Farhang) in Rawalpindi.

On 13th October, Khana-e-Farhang, Rawalpindi held a seminar on Hafiz Shirazi which was attended by large number of scholars.

On 9th of November, a seminar on Iqbal Lahori and Karbala incident was held at Khana-e-Farhang, Rawalpindi.

On 10th of November, Khana-e-Farhang, Lahore held a conference on Iqbal Lahori and Persian language.

On 11th of November, Iranology Center was opened at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University in north western city of Peshawar.

On 22nd of November, 1st conference of Persian teachers of universities and colleges of Pakistan was organized by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan in collaboration with Cultural Consulate of the Embassy of Iran in Islamabad.
Speakers at a conference in Pakistan stressed the need for promotion of Persian language in Pakistan as the best creative thoughts are written in Persian language.

On December 4, a cultural exhibition of ECO member states was held in Islamabad which was also attended by Cultural Consulate of the Embassy of Iran.

On December 6, a five day Iranian film festival was organized in Islamabad which attracted a good number of people.

On 11th of December, a food and cultural festival was held at Pakistan’s National Defense University Islamabad in which Cultural Consulate of the Embassy of Iran also participated.

On February 9, 2018, an exhibition of Iranian Islamic arts by Iranian artists Hossain Ali Esfandiari and his daughter Atena Esfandiari was held in Pakistan’s Rawalpindi.
The exhibition was organized by Iranian Cultural Center (Khana-e-Farhang) in Rawalpindi in collaboration with Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) to mark the 39th anniversary of the glorious victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran.

On February 15, a week-long Iranian Film Festival featuring different internationally acclaimed productions was held in Pakistan’s port city of Karachi. The festival was organized by Iranian Cultural Center in Karachi and screened the films dubbed into Urdu language.

On February 25, Chairman of Pakistan’s National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL) Iftikhar Hussain Arif during a meeting with Iranian cultural attaché in Pakistan Shahabedin Daraei expressed readiness for promoting cultural relations with Iran.
