7 killed in building collapse in NE Iran

'The incident happened on 6:00 am local time (1:30 GMT) after a water heater caught fire and exploded,' said Mehdi Rezaee.

Saying that more than 50 firefighters have been deployed at the scene, Rezaee added, 'Three buildings collapsed, and 15 adjacent ones were 10 to 60 percent damaged.'

'According to preliminary observations, an explosion caused the incident. Further research will carry on,' he said.

A Red Crescent official Hassan Gudarzi said that rescue dogs are being used to find the people under the rubbles.

The injured people have been reportedly transported to hospital.
