4.2-magnitude quake jolts western Iran

According to the Seismological Center of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor occurred at 21:32 hours local time (17:02 GMT) at the depth of 8 km underground.

The epicenter of the quake was located at 34.62 degrees longitude and 46.35 degrees latitude.

No report has so far been released on the likely casualty or damage to property.

Tazehabad is located in the western province of Kermanshah.

Iran sits on major fault lines and is prone to near-daily earthquakes.
