2 tourist trains arrive in Neyshabur to mark Attar's Day

The tourists onboard the trains will lay flowers to the mausoleum of the poet, attend the ceremony of 'A Night with Attar' and will visit cultural, historical sites in Neyshabur, the head of Cultural Heritage, Handcraft and Tourism Administration of the city told Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

Mohammad-Esmaeil Etemadi added that the program of tourist trains was launched three years ago, but the two trains arriving in Bushehr are the first ones since the beginning of the New Year in Iran (March 21).

Neyshabur, 127 km west Mashad, with a population of 450,000 is the hometown of Attar.

In addition to practicing medicine, he has written several books mostly in poem and is considered one of the prominent literary figures of Iranian culture. His books have been translated into various languages, with The Conference of the Birds being compared to Dante's Divine Comedy.

April 14 is designated Attar's National Day in the Iranian calendar in recognition of his contribution to the country's literature.
