Iran spends $270m annually for education of foreign refugees: Official

Speaking to reporters, Ahmad Mohammadifar, the director of immigrants affairs of the Ministry of Interior, said that only $ 2 million of the sum is provided by international organizations.

Providing financial aid by international organizations has not been stopped, but it is very few, the official said.

He said that as much as 420,000 foreign refugees are now studying at Iranian schools.

Apart from above 1.5 million refugees which are legally residing in Iran, there are between 1 and 1.5 million unauthorized immigrants in the country, Mohammadifar said.
