Mohammad Khoddadi from IRNA and Yungi Nakaya from Asahi Shimbun in the meeting held on Tuesday night urged the direct news exchange between the two media.
Asahi Shimbun is the most important newspaper in Japan with a circulation of over 6.5 million in 2016.
The two heads also agreed that in the light of Iran and Japan’s high capacity, the two media should be able to have direct access to each others’ news sources.
Khoddadi stressed that IRNA with a long-standing experience is prepared to cooperate with Asahi Shimbun in new, innovative media activities.
Khoddadi is also member of the managing board of a cultural-press institution in Iran.
Noting that Asahi Shimbun has a resident correspondent in Iran, the Japanese manager, for his part, said that there is a huge capacity for cooperation between IRNA and Asahi Shimbon.
Khoddadi and head of Japan’s News Agency (Kyodo) Masaki Fukoyama signed agreement on Tuesday to expand cooperation.
