Iran-China media cooperation discussed

The issue was discussed in a meeting held between Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) Abdolali Aliasgari and the director general of the state-run television network, China Central Television (CCTV), Nie Chenxi.

The meeting was also attended by Iran’s Ambassador in Beijing Ali Asghar Khaji.

The two sides explored ways of increasing bilateral cooperation and expressed readiness to exchange experiences in this regard.

The IRIB head who is visiting China to participate in the 14th Asia Media Summit (AMS), said that the organization of which he is in charge is ready to cooperate with the different sectors of the Chinese boadcasting organization.

The summit is to be held on June 6-8 in Qingdao city.

Noting the historical and long standing ties between the two countries, the Iranian official urged the cooperation extension in all media spheres.

Referring to the role Iran is playing in restoring the ancient Silk Road, he said that the country also wants to support the plan, initiated by Chinese President Xi Jingping, in media sector.

Nie Chenxi who is also the deputy director of the State General Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television for his part confirmed his Iranian counterpart and called for a boost in the media cooperation between the two countries.

He said that the initiative, known as Belt and Road, is a suitable ground for enhancing Iran-China media cooperation.
