
Abdul Qadir Baloch made the remarks while briefing the upper house of parliament ‘Senate’ regarding Iran-Pakistan ties and situation on the common border.
'Iran respects Pakistan's sovereignty and territorial integrity and expects the same from Pakistan,' he added.
The minister went on to say that Iran has no intention to carry out any action inside Pakistan, adding, 'We should not rely on media misquoting Iranian military officials.'
He said that soon after the recent border incident, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif visited Pakistan and held meetings with civil and military leadership, which also shows that Iran wants to resolve the issue through diplomacy.
Baloch added Pakistan and Iran enjoy good relations and both sides desire to further cement such relations by enhancing mutual trade volume to $ 5 billion.
On April 26, nine Iranian border guards were martyred and two others injured by terrorists near Pakistan border in southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan, when they were patrolling at the zero border point. The terrorists after the killing and abducting one Iranian border guard fled to Pakistan.
