Rapid response rescue, research teams in quake-hit N. Khorasan Province

The rescue operations are about to finish and there seems to be no need to ask for further aid from other provinces, Deputy Head of Razavi Khorasan rescue team Esmail Bahman Abadi told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

At least two people were killed and 400 others injured when a 5.7-magnitude earthquake hit the city of Pishqaleh in North Khorasan Province Saturday night.

Managing Director of North Khorasan Red Crescent Society Hassan Shakouri said that 37 search and rescue teams were sent to the quake-hit region immediately after the quake to save victims of the deadly tremor.

He added that 80 percent of the injured and survivors of the incident have been relocated in tents.

Some 177 injured were hospitalized and 223 more received medical aids on the spot.
