JCPOA undeniable proof for Iran’s key role in regional, int’l peace: Greek journalist

Iran’s policy of moderation and rationalism which has led to the conclusion the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) with the G5+1 countries, made Iran’s key role more evident than ever in restoration of peace in the Middle East and even the entire world, Keristus Kalijas said.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with IRNA on Sunday, Kalijas hailed President Hassan Rouhani administration’s moderate approach both in foreign and internal policies.

He further noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s has from the very beginning, particularly during the past four years, has been pursuing the same policy and this has not only made the West to enter into agreement with Iran but it also made them to admit its key, sensitive and constructive role.

Referring to political rivalry in the region, he said that in order to achieve its political and economic goals in the region, US with the help of its certain Arab-Western allies sought to impose further sanctions on Iran under various pretexts.

However, Kalijas said, Iran’s moderation and rationalism have taken away the weapon from US and forced them to abandon their policy and admit Iran’s undeniable right to peaceful use of nuclear energy.

As for the achievements of the JCPOA, the Greek analyst said that recurrent visits by Western states’ officials to Iran after the international deal proves the fact that they have perceived Iran’s economic capabilities and its key role in the international scene.

Pointing to unsuccessful US-led proxy wars in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya as well as a number of African states, Khalijas said although proxy wars have inflicted huge losses to the people of those countries, the wars have actually failed due to independence-seeking spirit of those nations.

Meanwhile, he added, Westerners have come to the conclusion that they need to cooperate with Iran to resolve problems because the Iranian government has, from the beginning, opposed to extremism and because Tehran’s role in promoting peace in the region and even the entire world has increased after the 2015 nuclear deal.

The Greek journalist also said that Iran’s policy of the Economy of Resistance has led to the country’s independence from foreign powers and made it a major regional and even international power heading towards a bright future.
