Tremor rocks Sefid Sang in Khorasan Razavi province

According to the report of seismography center affiliated to Tehran University Geophysics Institute, the quake occurred at 1:42:07 hours local time (21:12 GMT).

The epicenter of the quake was at 35.75 degrees north latitude and 60.48 degrees east longitude and it happened at a depth of 7 km below the surface at Sefidsang region.

The Managing Director of Razavi Khorasan Crisis Management Office Hojjat Ali Shayanfar told IRNA on Wednesday that the incident has left two injured.

He went on to say that over 30 aftershocks happened and the biggest one measured 3.6 on the Richter scale.

The Wednesday quake resulted in collapse of some buildings which had been damaged during the previous earthquake which occurred on April 5, he said.

Sefid Sang, a suburb of Qalandarabad, Fariman city, is located around 100 kilometers away from Mashad.

Iran sits astride several major faults in the earth's crust, and is prone to frequent earthquakes, many of which have been devastating.
