Pakistan eager to expand cooperation with Iran

In a meeting with Khorasan Razavi Province Governor Ali-Reza Rashidian in Mashad on Tuesday, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq expressed pleasure with his meetings with Iranian authorities during his Iran visit on the invitation of his Iranian counterpart.

The speaker added that in all the meetings, including with Iran’s President and Minister of Industry, he had felt a clear sense of unity, friendship and solidarity, and would transfer the message to his home country.

“Returning to Pakistan, I would urge the Prime Minister, Defense Minister and some other authorities to expand the ties, since the required grounds for cooperation between the two countries are available, and what is needed is taking an initial move,” Sadiq said.

Rashidian on his part pointed to historical ties between Iran and Pakistan and added that the relationships were always based on mutual respect and common interests.

He also expressed hope that with launching Mashad-Zahedan railway, Pakistani pilgrims would travel easily to the holly city, given that Mashad had been branded as the Cultural Capital of Islamic World in 2017.

The Pakistan National Assembly Speaker in the one-day visit to Mashhad is accompanied by a delegation, including seven Pakistani ministers.
They arrived in Tehran last Friday and held talks with some Iranian officials.
