Ilkhanid era settlement location discovered in western Iran

Due to the materials, namely stone and adobe used in it, the construction belongs to the normal people and is indicative of a rural community.

RICHT Public Relations Office quoted head of the exploration team of the Hill Ramezanzadeh on Sunday as saying Jogh Qelich Baghi Castle Hill with a span of about 1.5 hectares and maximum height of about 15 meters is located 60 km northwest of Hamedan and 2.5 km southwest of Ali Sadr Cave.

He said the main objective for archeological operation in the first season of this Hill was to determine the span and limit of the area and in continuation to identify the sequence of ancient layers.

“Based on the aforementioned collection, the layers of the Hill have possibly been formed in a period between the Old Bronze Era up to the Ilkhanid Era,” he added.

The archaeologist noted that the discovered architecture was inclusive of several spaces with low-level architecture for the construction of which a combination of adobe and stone had been used.

Referring to the loss of parts of the floors and surfaces of the settlement location in the course of unauthorized explorations, he said in those parts remains of a relatively strong and regular stone architecture belonging to the older periods can be observed.
