In an interview with IRNA, former Pakistani Ambassador to Afghanistan, Rustam Shah Mohmand said that there are many loopholes in Western strategy to deal with terrorism because they are targeting the wrong people.
He said Western countries are trying to strengthen their systems but unfortunately on the cost of common Muslims.
“The strict actions by Western states against Muslims make their lives more miserable, their pain and suffering increases but real culprits would still get away and they will still be in a position to mount more attacks,” he added.
The analyst expressing his views said these are suicidal attacks and if somebody is prepared to die then he can commit any kind of attack.
“Yes, terrorism phenomenon has emerged in the West for the past two, three years and it hasn’t really gone away, but the recent act of terrorism in London is very deplorable, very unfortunate. I think those who are behind this act that killed some innocent people, in fact are real enemies of Muslims and creating more problems for the Muslim population in Western countries by doing Islamophobic acts,” viewed the former ambassador.
The diplomat said Muslims are everywhere in almost all European countries, but unfortunately some Muslims have been affected by very extremist ideas of groups like Daesh and commit suicide attacks. But extremism has nothing to do with Islam as the religion of peace.
“When an ideology overtakes a person, he becomes absolutely blind and can’t see the reality, he can’t see how this foolish action would create so many problems for the Muslim population there,” he regretted.
Rustam Shah Mohmand said the terrorist attack in London is very deplorable, very tragic, very unfortunate and very unfair for the Muslims living in that country.
He added, 'Western countries are now facing terrorism. Look what happened in Paris, what happened in other European countries, what has happened now in UK for the second, third or fourth time but despite having putting in all sorts of procedures and mechanisms, it is so difficult to stop such acts of terrorism.
The analyst was of the view that recent attack can be part of the reaction to the Western anti-Islam policies or it could be part of the contribution of the organizations like Daesh which was also created inadvertently by the Americans.
“When they dismantled stable governments, it created a vacuum and non-state actors like Daesh jumped in to fill that vacuum and now the West is trying to cope with that remnant which it itself had created,” he noted.
