The statement signed by 110 out of 290 lawmakers hailed the strong presence of an Iranian movie in the Oscars ceremony, saying the presence indicated 'intellectuality, decency, and potential' of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s cinema.
The parliamentarians also congratulated Farhadi and his film crew on winning the Oscar 2017, and wished further success for the Islamic Iran's community of art and cinema.
At the statement, the lawmakers reiterated that receiving the Oscar prize by an Iranian artist ruled out the US president’s hostile claims against the great nation of Iran and made the civilized world bow to the grandeur of the Iranian culture.
On Feb 27, Farhadi’s 'The Salesman' won the Oscar 2017.
Two Iranian-American elites Anousheh Ansari, the first female space tourist engineer, and Professor Firouz Naderi, former director of Solar Systems Exploration at NASA, represented Farhadi at the 89th Oscar Academy Awards.
On January 29, Farhadi announced that he would not attend the Oscars ceremony this year, even if he were granted an exception to US President Donald Trump visa ban for citizens from Iran and six other predominantly Muslim countries.
