During the meeting, Aliyev pointed to successful development of relations between Baku and Tehran in all areas and said there are good grounds for cooperation between the two countries in legal and judicial fields.

He voiced hope that talks between Iran’s justice minister and his Azeri counterpart result in further cooperation between the two countries in legal and judicial areas.

Pointing to the exchange of delegations between Iran and Azerbaijan and meetings between the two countries’ presidents in recent years, Aliyev said, “The two countries enjoy cordial relations.”

Iran and Azerbaijan cultural and historical commonalities are the two countries’ valuable asset and promotion of bilateral relations is important for the two countries and the region, the Azeri president added.

Meanwhile, Iranian justice minister referred to development of cooperation between Tehran and Baku in recent years and said, “Extension of this process requires judicial and legal support.”

The official hailed the progress made in Azerbaijan in the past two decades and noted that the late President of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev attached high importance to development of ties with Iran.

Iranian justice minister arrived in Azerbaijan Republic on Thursday for an official two-day visit.

He is expected to meet with his Azeri counterpart, head of Azerbaijan Republic Supreme Court as well as the country’s prime minister and parliament speaker.
