Rasoul Dinarvand made the remarks in a ceremony held on Sunday to unveil Iranian made drug for quitting smoking called ‘Varenicline’.
“We aim at developing pharmaceutical industry while some $ 3b dollars of different kinds of drugs are being produced domestically and drugs worth $ 1b are being imported,” he said.
“Drugs import had a fall of 500 million dollars in the last three years,” he said.
He emphasized that Iran is capable of boosting exports, saying that drug export was over $ 2m 15 years ago and now it has reached $ 200m.
During the event, the production line of cephalosporin suspension was also inaugurated with the attendance of Dinarvand and some other officials.
