Russia expresses interest in reviewing documents of Golestan Palace

Russian Irannologists made the remarks on Tuesday at the same time with the opening ceremony of the exhibition of the works awarded by the Russian tsars to the Qajar kings in the Golestan Palace. They expressed their interest in reviewing, identifying and printing the existing albums and documents in that location.

RICHT Public Relations Office quoted advisor to the head of the Institute Seyed Ahmad Mohit Tabatabaei as saying that in the exhibition which has been put on with the cooperation of RICHT, the National Committee of Iran’s Museums (ICOM), the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization and the Golestan Palace, the works donated to and purchased by the Qajar kings in the 19th century have been put on display in the Palace.

He pointed to the presence of the Russian delegation in the exhibition, saying that out of the results of the inspection of the exhibition reference can be made to the interest expressed by the Russian Iranologist delegation in reviewing, identifying and printing of the existing albums and documents in Golestan Palace with the cooperation of that country, Institute of Cultural Heritage and Tourism, and Golestan Palace.

“Finally it was agreed that the Iranian works on display at palace museums and documents center in Moscow will be reviewed as well,” he added.

He also noted that in this connection and in the light of efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, documents Organization and Iran National Library, a research session was held with regard to the introduction of characteristics and ups and downs in relations between Iran and Russia in the research deputy office of the Foreign Ministry.

The exhibition of works presented by the Russian tsars to the Qajar kings was opened at World Heritage complex of Golestan Palace on the occasion of the 515th anniversary of the establishment of Iran-Russia relations.

Some 60 works, including panels, photo albums, documents and some historical objects will be on public display for ten days.
