Iranian team fully prepared to play Davis Cup in Pakistan: Coach

Talking to IRNA in Islamabad, Saeed Ahmadvand said that Pakistan tennis team is one of the bests in Asia specially in Double Games and it would not be easy to play against Pakistan.

He said that he cannot predict the results but they have come fully prepared and will give tough time to Pakistani tennis team. 'We have a very good chance in Single Games here against Pakistan.'

Saeed Ahmadvand said that he is happy that Pakistan is hosting the Davis Cup after the gap of twelve years.

Terming Islamabad as a beautiful and safe city, he complained about tough security rules of International Tennis Federation (ITF) imposed on them, adding that such a situation may affect the performance of the Iranian tennis players.

Pakistan's best tennis player Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi talking to IRNA, welcomed the Iranian team in Pakistan and wished them good time.

He said that Iran is an experienced team and although Pakistan is one the best teams in Asia, it will not be easy for them to play against Iran even in Islamabad.

Pakistan is hosting the Davis Cup after 2005 because the International Tennis Federation (ITF) had not permitted Pakistan to host such events due to security problem.

The Davis Cup is played between two countries and this time Pakistan is hosting the event. The event will be played at Pakistan Sport Board’s refurbished synthetic courts from Feb 3 to 5.

The Davis Cup is the first round of Asia Oceania Group II. Besides Pakistan and Iran, other countries in this group are Vietnam, Hong Kong, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Kuwait and Philippines.
