Official: Pakistan will never interfere in Yemen, Syria affairs

Sartaj Aziz was talking to an Iranian delegation led by Chairman of Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security of Iran Alaedin Boroujerdi in Islamabad.

Stressing the need for boosting trade with Iran, he said his country is ready to finalize free trade agreement with Iran.

He said that Pakistan is ready to finalize free trade agreement with Iran. Describing the resumption of Iran-Pakistan banking ties as inevitable, Satraj Aziz said that State Bank of Pakistan is making efforts to remove impediments in banking relationship.

Pakistani official expressing his views said that Pakistan is ready to work closely with Iran for durable peace and stability in Afghanistan.

Terming presence of Daesh in Afghanistan as a joint threat, he said that both Iran and Pakistan need to work together to eliminate menace of terrorism from the region. He said that stable and peaceful Afghanistan is in the interest of Iran and Pakistan.

Highlighting the importance of China, Pakistan Economic Corridor project, the Pakistani official said that Pakistan welcomes participation of other countries including Iran in the development project.

Chairman of Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security of Iran Alaeddin Boroujerdi on the occasion expressed satisfaction on the improved security situation of Pakistan and said that both countries need to carry out joint efforts to stop terrorists’ activities and drug smuggling in bordering areas.

He urged the government of Pakistan to take practical steps to complete its portion of Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline so that the project can be implemented.

Boroujerdi paid a three-day official visit to Pakistan. While in Islamabad, he had separate meetings with senior officials of Pakistan to discuss current regional security situation and further strengthening of bilateral cooperation between the two capitals.
