First Iranian oil tanker docks at Spain's port in post-JCPOA era

'After implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and lifting the sanctions imposed on Iran by world powers, National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC) resumed commuting in European ports,' Sirus Kian Ersi said.

He referred to Spain as the first European destination for Iranian tankers, saying that the first NITC's tanker which was hired by a Spanish firm docked in the Algeciras border.

He pointed to NITC's plan to participate in international and European markets, saying that tankers of this company are planned to commute in the Netherlands' ports.

NITC having a fleet with the capacity of 15.5 million tons and the most valid insurance, class, flag, licenses and other international requirement, is the biggest oil shipping company in the world.

The nuclear deal between Iran and six world powers was signed in 2015 and came into effect in January 2016. The six world powers were committed to lifting sanctions against Iran and the country in turn agreed to limit some of its nuclear program in certain areas.

Thus, after implementing JCPOA, all sanctions related to oil and gas and petrochemicals have been lifted.
