
The foreign minister is to have a stopover in Switzerland before leaving for Malaysia to participate in 2017 World Economic Forum annual meeting which is held on January 17-20.
Zarif, in a letter to the United Nations Secretary-Genearl Antonio Guterres, on January 7 drew his attention to the appalling conditions of Rohingia Muslims and urged him to try to change the situation.
In his letter, Zarif said the international community expects from the Government of Myanmar to assert control over the Rohingya region and act immediately and effectively towards the restoration of the rights of the Rohingya Muslims as part of the Myanmar society.
