Iranian boy survives deadly dog attack

The dog has reportedly devoured the belly of Amir-Mohammad, even eating part of his small bowl and severely injuring other portions of the kid's abdomen.

Amir-Mohammad was soon taken to the Imam Ali (AS) Hospital in the provincial capital city of Bojnoured where he was attended by the medical team, but soon they decided to transfer the injured boy to a more equipped hospital in Mashad due to his critical condition.

The little boy with abdominal organs, including major parts of his bowls badly injured, was sent to the Sheikh Hospital in Mashad, where he underwent a surgical operation.

Amir-Mohammad now has been transferred from the intensive care unit to the ward.

'Amir-Mohammad is now receiving appropriate medical treatments and he has regained consciousness and can speak,' said Mahmoud Delpasand an official with the General Governor's Office of North Khorasan who has paid a visit to the little boy in the Mashad hospital.

Away from the severity of Amir-Mohammad's case, what remains to be important about the incident is how the news on the attack hit the media, especially the social media both in the northeastern Iranian province and across the country.

The first heart-rending pictures of the wounds suffered by the five-year-old boy soon went viral on the social media evoking considerable sympathy both among the public as well as officials.

People in Bojnourd soon launched an online fund-raising campaign for Amir-Mohammad to pay for his hospital expenses.

Domestic news agencies, including the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) were among the first to join in providing the public with a full coverage of the incident both across the province and the nation.

'There is no worry about Amir-Mohammad treatment expenses,' said Mohssen Ranayee Head of the North Khorasan Health Insurance Organization.

But they are not solely the provincial officials who remain to follow the case.
'The health minister is personally following the case of Amir-Mohammad,' said Delpasand.

'The heath minister has been informed about the treatment Amir-Mohammad has so far received,' he said.
