Naim Qassem made the remarks during the first anniversary martyrdom of Sheikh Nimr which was held on Tuesday in Southern Beirut.
'Sheikh Nimr was mouthpiece of people in Saudi Arabia and the defender of oppressed masses in Palestine, Bahrain, Lebanon, Iraq and Syria,' he added.
Sheikh Nimr was a prominent Shia cleric in Saudi Arabia who was among 47 people executed on January 2, 2016.
In related news, Iranian Majlis (parliament) in a statement released on Tuesday said, 'Sheikh Nimr Baqir al-Nimr was martyred by the Saudis at a time when the regional and global peace and security was at risk as a result of terrorist activities of the Takfiri and extremist groups.'
