Stephen O'Brien UN under Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator made the remarks in a press conference on Monday.
I met some Iranian key respective officials to discuss ways for promoting humanitarian measures and enhancing humanitarian aids by the United Nations as well as increasing cooperation between Iran and the UN to offer humanitarian aids in the Middle East region, O'Brien said.
The region is overwhelmed by floods, earthquakes and side effects of climate changes and the people living in the region are increasingly vulnerable to the effects left by such phenomena, O'Brien said.
We encouraged Iranian officials to join the international network organization for urban search and rescue groups, he said.
O'Brien expressed sorrow for continuation of war in Syria, Yemen and Iraq and said that these conflicts have influenced the region and left displaced millions of people.
He underlined that the UN remains to be neutral and will practice non-partiality in addressing global issues.
These tend to constitute the principles we consider in doing our job.
