Nepal urges boosting economic, tourism ties with Iran

Speaking in a meeting with Iran's accredited ambassador to West Asia Ali Chegeni, Gyawali called for promoting economic and tourism ties with Iran.

Chegeni is in Kathmandu to submit a copy of his credentials to that country's foreign minister and to hold talks with the Nepalese political, economic and private sector officials.

He also met with deputy foreign minister of Nepal and the officials of the chamber of commerce.

In his meeting with Gyawali, Iranian ambassador described as historic relations between Iran and Nepal, and stressed the importance of Iran in West Asia.

He also called for promoting relations in tourism, commercial, investment fields and in taking advantage of Iran's valuable experiences in constructing dams, plant and mining.

During the meeting both sides agreed to maintain cooperation in establishing political consultative committee between Iranian and Nepalese foreign ministries.

Signing documents, memoranda of understanding (MoUs) in judicial, joint investment, fighting narcotics and human trafficking as well as avoiding double taxation were among other topics discussed by both sides.

In another meeting with officials of Nepal chamber of commerce, Chegeni discussed issuing technical and engineering services, food industry, petrochemical and also the ways to develop relations.
