Majlis speaker felicitates reporter's Day

Appreciating reporters' attempts especially those who work in Majlis (Parliament), Larijani reiterated that media's problems especially in creating job security and foresight for reporters should be followed up carefully by government and Majlis Cultural Commission.

Iran commemorates Reporter’s Day every year on Mordad 17 in the Iranian calendar, (Aug 7 this year) marking the anniversary of killing an Iranian reporter Mahmoud Saremi in Afghanistan 18 years ago.

The day was designated as national Reporter's Day after Taliban terrorists killed Saremi, the correspondent of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), along with other eight Iranian diplomats, in the Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif in 1998.
