The meeting was held along with US mounting provocations and threats against countries in the region such as the Islamic Republic of Iran and Iraq accompanied by propaganda of Washington and some Arab countries on increasing threats and insecurity in Iraq.

Iran's ambassador on Saturday also conferred with Iraq's President Barham Salih on issues of mutual interests along with regional and global developments.

Masjedi had already met with Britain's ambassador to Iraq on regional developments.
