Iran's embassy in S. Korea rejects US claims

Brian Hook, the US special envoy for Iran, in a recent interview with the Korean news agency 'Yonhap' accused Tehran of supporting terrorism, saying that any missile test by the country should be prevented.

Stressing that Iran has always been a peaceful country, Iran's embassy said in a statement that Tehran condemns 'all acts of violence and terrorism against any nation and religion.'

The embassy also reaffirmed that the nature of Iran's nuclear program is peaceful and fully verified by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The IAEA has confirmed several times that Iran has been in line with its obligations under the nuclear deal.

US President Donald Trump in 2018 unilaterally pulled out of the deal and imposed unfair sanctions on Tehran.

The sanctions have immensely affected South Korea as a major buyer of Iran's crude.

Iran's diplomatic mission in Seoul also criticized the US unilateral withdrawal as an 'illegal act and blatant violation' of international law.
