World hails social popular supports in Iran

The society’s plan had been presented in the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women which was held on March 11-22, Shahriar Hakimi said in an exclusive interview with IRNA.

Describing SPASDI as a popular society, he said unfortunately due to Trump Muslim ban choice, members of this society could not attend the event.

Hakimi added that the SPASDI was registered in the United Nations Economic and Social Council about 12 years ago.

Participation in programs like United Nations Commission on the Status of Women is aimed at boosting connections with other societies, he said adding that SPASDI is after exchanging experiences and being active in giving services to other societies.

Hakimi went on to say that SPASDI has recently focused on helping those women who had lost their husbanded due to HIV and they or their children also have HIV.

He reiterated that SPASDI was one of first societies which participated in Ban quake and was able to attract international supports for this area.

In 2003, a 6.6-magnitude quake flattened the historic city of Bam, killing 26,000 people.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Hakimi referred to the society’s efforts to sign a petition with over 2,000 individuals and societies in the UN urging them to act justly as regard visa services.

The Commission on the Status of Women is a functional commission of the United Nations Economic and Social Council, one of the main UN organs within the United Nations.

CSW has been described as the UN organ promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women.
