Solidarity between Iran, India main asset for promoting cultural ties

He made the remarks in a meeting with the Head of Indian Council for Cultural Relations Vinay Sahasrabuddhe who is currently in Tehran to take part in Seminar ‘Linguistic Relations between Persian and Sanskrit’.

Referring to cultural commonalities between the two countries, he said that the first official cultural deal between them dates back to 62 years ago.

Depth of cultural ties is such that no other countries were too close to each in the course of the history, he said.

Iranian official hailed Islam as religion of peace and kindness, saying that it has peaceful relations with other faiths.

Sahasrabuddhe, for his part, called for setting up of center of studies on religions in Iran, saying that the Islam in Iran is an advanced type of Islam which looks at future and enjoy high respect across the world.

India has had long-standing relations with Iran, he said, calling for enhanced cultural ties between them.
