Police chief: Security prevalent at Iran borders

Brigadier General Hossein Ashtari made the remarks Sunday upon his arrival at Kermanshah airport.

'We have to investigate continuous patrolling at borders in order to boost defense and security power in border areas,' he said.

The trip is aimed to visit Kermanshah borders and also quake-stricken areas in the province, he added.

He expressed condolences to the bereaved families of the victims of the deadly quake on Sunday, saying that no especial security problem has so far been reported in this case.

He went on to say that the Iranian police is ready to give aids and services to quake-hit people.

The 5.9 on the Richter scale quake that happened in Tazehabad, western province of Kermanshah on Sunday has claimed lives of two people and injured 241 others.
