According to the latest reports of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), Vietnam is the major destination of Iran’s fig.
The largest portion of the world’s fig is farmed in Turkey with total production of 255,000 thousand tons per year, added Masoud Latifian in a local ceremony.
According to Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the annual world fig production is about 1 million tons.
Five major producers of fig, including Turkey, Egypt, Algeria, Iran and Morocco harvest about 70% of the world fig.
The world’s largest rainfed fig farm is located in Estahban, Fars province, southern Iran.
