Iran crowned in Asian Junior Wrestling C'ships

The event was held at Enqelab Club in Karaj on Friday in which Iran free-style wrestling team won the first title with 205 points.

Japanese and Indian teams came second and third respectively.

Iran’s junior Greco-Roman wrestling team also stood first with 220 points with the Kazakh team ranking second. Indian, Kyrgyz and Iraqi teams took the third to sixth places respectively.

Iranian athlete Ebrahim Khari won gold in the 38 kg weight class of free-style wrestling and Mohammad Reza Shakeri also grabbed the same in the 41 kg weight category.

Seyyed Amir Mahdi Hosseini also won gold in the 68 kg class while Mohammad Mobin Azimi and Seyyed Reza Hashemi-Joibari grabbed the same in the 85 kg and 75 kg weight classes of the free-style wrestling respectively.

Iranian Greco-Roman wrestlers Milad Valziadeh, Mohammad Hajivand-Fathi, Saeed Esmaeili, Ali Hajivand, Hojjat Rezaei, Ahmad Solhdoust, Abulfazl Paydar won gold medals in various weight categories.

First round of Asian Junior Wrestling Championship attended by 11 Asian teams was held in free-style and Greco-Roman categories in Karaj, Alborz province.

Athletes from Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, India, Jordan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Syria, Singapore, Turkmenistan and Iran were present in the one-day event.
