Iran present at FAO forestry session

The Committee on Forestry (COFO) which is the highest body of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) on forestry is holding its 24th session on July 16-20 in Rome.

Representatives from 120 countries are attending the international FAO forestry session.

Khalili Aqaei, Deputy Minister of Agriculture represents the Islamic Republic of Iran in the forum.

Goals of the session include discussing the role of forests in food security and nutrition, the importance of urban and peri-urban forestry.

Aqaei, referring to the joint programs of Iran and FAO, said that he will have meetings with FAO officials on forests, watershed management, desert greening, and forest diseases control.

Some projects have already been approved, he said, adding that Iran is trying to advance other projects during talks with FAO officials so that they could be implemented.
