Light quake shakes southern Iran

According to the Seismological Center of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor occurred at 5:27 hours local time (01:57 GMT) in an area located at 28.04 degrees latitude and 56.91 degrees longitude and in the depth of 24km underground.

The epicenter of the quake was registered at 27 km of Sar Gaz, 32 km of Faryab and 45 km Ziarat-e Ali.

No report on possible damage to life or properties has been released yet.

Iran sits on major fault lines and is prone to near-daily earthquakes.
