KRG keen on boosting cultural ties with Iran

Talking to IRNA on Saturday, he welcomed presence of Iran’s cultural delegation in Erbil, saying, “We always have joint cultural activities in different fields.”

Iran’s cultural delegation comprising artists from Kurdestan province arrived in KRG last Thursday to hold cultural and artistic programs.

Evaluating joint cultural programs as useful, Doski said that organizing joint cultural weeks with Iran is on agenda.

“We are neighbor with Iran and our joint ties require mutual cooperation,” he said, calling for promotion of cultural relations in a bid to increase cultural exchanges.

The KRG minister of culture and youth said prior to meeting with officials of Iran’s Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance that the Islamic Republic has always supported Kurds and this was revealed in the fight against Daesh that Iran has always pioneered in supporting Iraqi Kurds.

The Iranian delegation comprising 20 artists from Kurdestan is scheduled to perform pieces of traditional music and satirical plays in several cities in Iraqi Kurdistan.
