Quake shakes southern Iranian province

The quake hit the suburbs of Kangan port , Bushehr province at 1:43 hours local time Sunday (9:13 GMT Saturday).

According to the Seismology Center of Tehran University, the epicenter of the quake was located at 27.86 degrees latitude and 52.13 degrees longitude at the depth of 24 kilometers underground.

No report on possible casualties or material losses has been released.

Kangan port is the center of a city with the same name in Bushehr province.

Iran sits on major seismological fault lines, making it one of the world's most quake-prone countries.
