Iran-Albania joint trade meeting held in Tirana

Besides scores of Albanian businessmen, the members of the chambers of commerce of the two countries and Iranian officials from the ministry of economy and financial affairs and foreign affairs ministry were present in the meeting.

At the meeting, head of the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Albania Ines Mucostepa, head of the Chamber of Commerce of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ghlomhossein Shafei, Chair of the Albanian Agribusiness Council Agim Rrapaj and Iranian Ambassador to Tirana Gholamhossein Mohammadnia delivered speeches.

The speakers talked about a wide range of issues including the need for both countries to know each other's trade capacities, encourage mutual investments and remove tax-related issues, the importance of economic diplomacy, development of cooperation between Iranian and Albanian private sectors, opening of Albanian embassy in Tehran and facilitation of issuing business visas.

Exchange of trade information, establishment of a direct flight between the two countries and direct cooperation between the banks of both countries without a third party were among other topics discussed by the two sides.

Setting up a Halal Brand representative office for issuing Halal certificates for foodstuff industries, tourism cooperation and development of Iran's relations with the countries of the Balkans region including Albania in the fields of transportation, fisheries, agriculture, energy (oil and gas), petrochemical, textile, mining and leather industries and technical and engineering services were also brought up and discussed at the meeting.

Towards the end of the meeting, the heads of the Iranian and Albanian chambers of commerce inked a memorandum of understanding on promotion of mutual relations.
