“I hope one day we all get united and make our region a better place for living,” Masharawi said on the sidelines of the 36th Edition of Fajr International Film Festival.
Commenting on his movie 'Writing on Snow' he said “it shows Palestinian people's unity against Israel.”
This movie is about five people living together in a house in Palestine and they are fighting the Israeli forces. This film focuses on the differences which leads to their separation but my movie tries to show the fact that that they must get united again, he added.
Elaborating on the unity among Palestinians against Israel, he said “In this movie I wanted to show that our internal differences is the main problem, we must get united, otherwise we will have no chance to get what is ours. In last scene of the movie I show to audience that we still have hope and we can eventually get back what is truly ours.”
I have participated in so many festivals including Fajr festival in 2015. I’m not here for award or anything else. I want to show my movie and Palestinians' challenges through this platform. Our presence here is very important to us. This festival gives us the chance of getting connected to other countries. I respect Iran’s cinema a lot and I would like to have a co-production with Iranian filmmakers.
Elsewhere in his remarks Masharawi elaborated on his interest in Iranian cinema saying, “Kiarostami was one of my friends. The important point is that the Iranian cinema is successful worldwide and this can open the doors for Arab movies too, because we have so many cultural connections and we can reach the standards of world’s cinema.”
