Perspolis advances to quarterfinals of AFC Champions League

By achieving such a valuable victory at home Perspolis got the top spot at Group C with 13 points followed by Al Sadd with 10 points. Both teams advanced to the quarterfinals of Asian football tournament.

The goal for Perspolis was scored at the second minute into the first half though a good team work by the Iranian players and a mistake made by Iranian defender of the Qatari team Morteza Pouraliganji who sent a diving header into his own goal.

Despite the Qatari outfit’s best efforts to pull level, Persepolis were ultimately able to hold out to claim maximum points to finish first in the group, and will now meet Group A’s runners-up in the Round of 16.
