Iran role in fighting terrorism strategic: Indian journalist

“The role of Iran in fighting terrorism in the region is very important. It is open secret that Saudi Arabia is responsible for promoting terrorism due to its Wahhabi ideology which has been substantiated with proofs a number of times' Anjum Jafri, Chief-editor of the Urdu newspaper 'Inqlab' said in an exclusive interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) here on Wednesday.

'Had it not been for Iran in fighting ISIS, things would have been different,” Jafri stressed.

“Backed by Saudi Arabia and Israel, the ISIS expanded its presence in Iraq and Syria in no time. With civil war like condition in Iraq and Syria, it was very difficult for them to tame ISIS. Due to this, the role of Iran became critical in fighting ISIS,' he added.

'Iran not only provided man and machinery but played important role in shaping overall strategy to fight and defeat ISIS,” he said.

On the role of Iran in preventing expansion of terrorism to other parts of the world, the Indian journalist said: “After capturing important cities in Iraq and Syria, ISIS expanded its presence in the region and was eying Europe and Africa. This is evident by the terrorist attacks in Nigeria, Tunisia, and different countries in Europe. Thus by eliminating the ISIS terrorist group, Iran has helped not only Europe but rest of the world.'

“Iran is working to prevent its region from the terrorist outfits and get peace. The European and western countries with their allies (some Middle-East countries) are trying to destabilize the Islamic nations by putting them into war with the terrorist organizations operated by themselves and to run their arm and ammunition companies,” Jafri said.
