Omani FM in Tehran on mutual ties: Iran spox

'Although Oman has good relations with many countries, Ben Alavi's visit has nothing to do with [United States Secretary of Defense James] Matis' visit to Muscat,' said Bahram Qasemi.

Qasemi added that Iran and Oman have had consultations about many things and trid hard to elevate the ties.

Referring to Oman's positive role in the region's peace and stability, he added, 'His trip to Tehran is pivoting around mutual economic issues; therefore, as well as meetings with the political and parliamentary authorities of Iran, he is going to have meetings with Iran's Central Bank governor, and public and private sectors' managers.'

Ben Alavi is also to meet the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad-Javad Zarif, who had made a visit to Oman in his Persian Gulf regional tour in early October 2017.
