In an interview with IRNA on Thursday, Esmaeil Shabanov added that in the Middle East, only two countries in the region are fighting terrorism, noting that no other country fights terrorism as seriously as Iran and Russia.
Of course, Lebanese Hezbollah is also fighting terrorism but it is not a country, he said.
Citing Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s statements, he said that the West has divided the terrorists into insider and outsider.
The measure is not correct and reveals the US and its Western allies’ insincerity in the fight against terrorism, he said.
Noting that Russia’s achievements in the anti-terror fight would not have been made without Iran’s cooperation, Shabanov said that the enemies would like Iran and Russia to leave Syria in order for terrorists to gain control over the country and for them to infiltrate Afghanistan and Central Asian states.
The Russian official further noted that terrorists are using Syria as an training workshop so that they will be able to deal a blow to the two countries in future.
He also said that the US is hatching plots against the regional states and uses terrorist groups to materialize its agenda.
