Iran Veep lauds Iraq’s outstanding role in region, world

Jahangiri made the remarks in a Thursday's meeting with Iraqi President Fuad Masum.

The Iraqi government and people relying on religious leadership and the country's constitution have overcome all crises, he said.

All ethnicities and religions and also political streams favors unity and territorial integrity of Iraq, he said adding that this is the most important factor behind Iraq's development.

He urged the need for all Iraqi groups to preserve their unity within the framework of the constitution.

Iran stood by the Iraqi people and government in difficult situation, he said reiterating that Iran is ready to help Iraq with its reconstruction efforts.

He referred to Tehran-Baghdad growing ties in economic, oil, gas, electricity and cultural fields and to Iranian pilgrims’ trips to Iraq, saying both countries need to raise increase their trade exchanges to 7 billion dollars per year.

Iranian Vice President also called for removal of banking barriers.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he urged all regional countries to cooperate with one anothe, saying Islamic countries can solve their problem through negotiations.
